In order for us to provide you with the highest quality oil painting or portrait, we suggest that you send us the highest resolution photo you can. If you’re a non-technical kind of person, just send us the photo and we will let you know if it is acceptable for us to use or not. If you are knowledgeable about image resolution then here are the requirements you should target for a good photo.
 

Digital camera photos should have a resolution of 3 mega pixels or higher.
Digital photos or scanned photos should be 300 dpi or higher.
 

In any case, pay close attention to the details of the photo because our artists will. For example, can you see the color of the subject’s eyes? Can you see small wrinkles on the person’s skin? These are small details but they are important for the artist to really capture the subtle things for your painting.
 

Although some photos may not be optimal we have been able to produce beautiful paintings from them. But, there are some things our artists simply can not do. If you don’t like the way someone looks in a photo, you probably are not going to like the result of the painting. Please choose your photos carefully.
 

If you have a scanned photo that is damaged, we will do our best to reconstruct the damage but we can not offer any guarantees with these kinds of photos.
 

However, we can make some adjustments to photos without any problem (i.e. red eye, replacement of background, shorten or lengthen dresses, correction of windblown hair, etc.) If you have specific request, please let us know this in the comments section of the order page. If you don’t tell us in the beginning, we may not be able to make the correction after the painting is completed. We can accept almost any type of file but we prefer .jpeg, .gif, .bmp, or .tff.
